COW PAT LOTTO 4. 2020 JULY.
A new mural in my front garden to replace THE BIRDS [last photo].

The images included show the finished mural [main panel + name on doors on side wall], a detail showing an obscure stylised cow pat, installation photo of my cow template, and a photo of my farmscape of 11 plastic cows in 11 blue pots. The blue pots made by my wife Kay originally contained echeverias which didn’t survive in the horizontal slot in the garden wall. The kitsch farmscape sits above the BARCODE pond in the front courtyard. The font on the side doors was custom designed for the installation. I think that Constructivist Cow might be a good name for the font.

The back story is that my son, when his kids were in primary school, used to take a handful of cows to the school fete where they were kept in a pen divided into either 4 or 9 [can’t remember … 4 suits my graphic purposes]. Fete goers took lottery tickets in which square got the first shit. Hence the rather popular event was billed as Cow Pat Lotto.

I originally photographed the cow in the Gold Coast hinterland around 2000. The cow then served as a model for the black and white cow which my wife screen printed on tea towels which she sold at markets. So the cow has seen many lives.
